<Where the Light Shines> was created in collaboration with the Culture and Arts Division of the Nowon-gu Children and Youth Participation Committee. The work consists of a streetlamp sculpture illuminating a time capsule filled with children’s memories.
The participating youths expressed “the things they want to remember” through drawings and writings, and gave the artist with objects they considered precious. These collected drawings and items were made into a time capsule and placed beneath the streetlamp, where the light reveals and preserves the children’s memories. The work revives the easily forgotten memories of childhood in the collective light of the community, demonstrating how art can transcend individual experience to connect generations and neighborhoods. After the festival, the time capsule will be returned to the children, allowing the journey of memory to continue.
