화면 안에는 아름다운 꽃이 가득하고, 듣기 좋은 새소리가 들립니다. 오래 지켜보면 꽃이 움직이는 걸 알 수 있습니다. 꽃으로 몸을 감추고 총을 든 군인들이 살금살금 어디론가 다가갑니다. 휴전 중인 남한과 북한 사이에는 군사 활동이 금지된 구역인 비무장지대(DMZ)가 있습니다. 사람의 발길이 닿지 않은 곳이라 어디서도 보기 어려운 꽃과 나무, 곤충과 동물들이 살고 있습니다. 아름다운 그곳 땅 아래에는 수백만 개의 지뢰가 묻혀 있습니다. 이 작품은 비무장지대의 아름다움 안에 숨어 있는 폭력을 나타내고 있습니다. 멀리서 보면 평화로워 보이지만, 가까이 오래 들여다보면 그 안에 불안과 위기가 숨어 있음을 느낄 수 있습니다. 이 작품을 통해 우리는 평화와 폭력이 함께 있는 현실을 깊이 생각하게 됩니다.
The screen is filled with beautiful flowers, accompanied by the pleasant sound of birds. If you look closely for a while, you will notice movements among the flowers. Soldiers, their bodies camouflaged by blossoms and guns in hand, quietly move toward an unseen destination.
Between the two countries under ceasefire, South and North Korea, lies the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a strip of land where all military activities are prohibited. Because human access is restricted, it has become home to rare flowers, trees, insects, and animals found nowhere else. Yet beneath this beautiful land lie millions of buried landmines. This work reveals the violence hidden beneath the beauty of the DMZ. From afar, the scene may seem peaceful, but when one looks at them longer, underlying tension and danger can be felt.
Through the artwork, we are invited to reflect deeply on the coexistence of peace and violence in our reality.
