일찍이 80년대부터 대규모 아파트 단지를 이룬 노원구는 산과 하천이 풍부한 곳이기도 하다. 이 지정학적 배경은 빼곡한 아파트들과 자연이 매우 가까이 붙어서 공생해 온 독특한 풍경을 만들었다. 작가는 보기 드문 이 풍경을 이제 막 이주를 시작하거나 이주한 지 오래된 다문화가정의 구성원들과 함께 시각적으로 재현하였다. 아파트의 견고한 물성을 나타낸 스테인리스 스틸, 나무의 옹이와 같은 층과 마디, 창문의 불빛과 유사한 LED의 다채로운 조명 컬러 등 작가는 여러 나라에서 온 가족들과 [노원의 숲]을 완성하였다.
Nowon-gu established apartment complexes early on in the 80s, but the region has always been abundant in mountains and streams. Thus was created a unique landscape of packed apartment buildings co-residing with nature.
And with some members from multicultural families that have just moved into Nowon or have been around for a long time, the artist recreated this rare scenery.
By working together, the artist and the immigrated citizens completed this artwork composed of stainless steel representing the sturdiness of apartments, layers and joints resembling knots in tress, and colorful LED lights reminding windows in apartment buildings, and titled it [Forest of Nowon].
