달은 태초부터 지구와 함께했다. 달이 지구를 기억한다면 인류의 탄생과 진화는 어떻게 기억하고 있을까? 작품은 닿을 수 없는 달을 향해 소원을 빌던 시절을 지나 달을 탐사하고 위성이 지구를 기록하는 시대에, 달이 간직해 온 인류의 소원과 기억을 마주하게 하며 태고의 시대와 현재를 연결한다.
이 작품은 한국의 고전적 미를 상장하는 달항아리에 선사시대 암각화에 나오는 고래를 현대적인 레이저빛으로 새겨넣어 시대를 관통하는 한국만의 전형적 미의식에 대한 질문을 던진다.
The Moon has been with Earth since the beginning of time. If it has any memory of the Earth, how would it reminisce the birth and evolution of humanity? In this era of lunar exploration and satellite recordings of the Earth past the days when people used to wish upon the unreachable moon, the viewers are faced with its hope and memory of humanity that has been kept within. Connecting the ancient time with current era, this artwork accentuates the exclusive Korean aesthetic sense by engraving the shape of whale appeared in prehistoric petroglyph with laser beam on the moon jar that represents Korea’s classic beauty.
