우리 문화에서 기본 원소는 다섯 가지로, 나무인 목, 불 화, 땅 토, 금속과 바위 금, 물 수로 표현한다. 별의 다섯 꼭짓점의 색은 다섯 원소를 의미하며 파란색은 목, 붉은색은 화, 노란색은 토, 흰색은 금, 그리고 검은색은 수를 나타낸다. 이 다섯 가지 색이 두 개의 빛나는 조각으로 나뉘어 있지만, 특정한 시점에서 하나로 결합하여 모든 다섯 가지 색을 담은 하나의 별이 된다. 이 별은 서로 다른 색을 가진 존재가 함께 모여서 전체적인 완성을 이룰 수 있다는 의미를 갖고 있다.
The five basic elements in Korean culture are considered to be tree, fire, earth, metal or rock, and water, and they are represented by the colors in the five-pointed edges of a star; blue is the tree, red is the fire, yellow is the earth, white is the gold, and black is the water. Although these five colors are divided into two glowing fragments, they join together at a certain point and become a wholesome star with all the colors, conveying the idea that differing beings can come together and become a completion.
