In [Lunar Crescendo], the events in life are metaphorically described through the crescent moon. It is the “beginning point” of a new task, and a beautiful phase of the indispensable “rest and rejuvenation”. The shape of the crescent moon and its lunar cycle are physically represented in this artwork. The 37 rings are structurally connected and progressively expand from the smallest to the largest oval, creating a sense of unity.
The medium of light and sound demonstrate this artwork through three “movements” in 10 minutes, and the iridescent light is reflected on the gently moving surface of the water for varying sentiments to be aroused from each of the movements. By transforming Danghyeon 3 Bridge into a space of inspiration using light and sound, the artist sought to provide a spot for passersby to pause and relax even if for a short while.
