Within the recent series of works centered on the theme of “strolling,” unfolds this year’s topic “environment” as a reflection on the relationship between humans and nature. The work expands traditional modes of expression into a contemporary sculptural form through applying hanji paper to an iron structure and filling it with light. The form begins with the character “人,” meaning human, and transforms into a walking and moving figure (儿). The chain connecting them resembles vines growing from the earth and holds dual nature that it connects and binds things together, at the same time intertwines and constrains them. As viewers walk along the trail between the lights and sculptural forms, the artist hopes that people will reflect on the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the responsibility we should bear within that relationship.
